Happiness Begins Here
When I first came to the Buddhist Temple, Kunzang Palyul Chöling (KPC), I noticed just how so many of the Sangha community seemed to have such a natural joy within them. People strode with a lift in their stride, greeted new comers with a ready smile and there was laughter in the halls and in gatherings where Mirth floated with the echoes of banter.
It was not long before I began to learn how this happiness came about. When I first came to KPC, I was introduced to many beautiful and sacred projects such as cleaning altars and repairing Stupas, all of which also created a fountain of virtue for my new life there. I was taught how the loving way of compassion antidotes misery and suffering and I found new friends who bonded with me and looked out for me as I learned the ropes, catching me when I slipped, inspiring me with their kindness.
Then there was the meeting with many great Lamas (holy teachers) who nourished my longing for truth with their profound loving wisdom and clarity. Happiness then began to flower within me, here at Kunzang Palyul Chöling, and this is why it is so important that this place thrive, so that many others may also discover and find its way to happiness as well; a happiness which greets all with open doors and with an open heart.
