This year, we are going to Reclaim Kindness to Do More for healthier moms and babies, to bring access to the 1 in 4 women in Prince George's county who receive inadequate prenatal care. With a goal of $10,000 you will help us provide complete prenatal care for 1 CenteringPregnancy® cohort - that's 8 uninsured women that will receive comprehensive care because of you!

In 2014, CCI Health & Wellness Services established a comprehensive prenatal practice in Prince George's County, just as the county's' prenatal services were closing their doors. Our prenatal program provides affordable, comprehensive, quality prenatal care services that are tailored to the diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds of women in the county. In 2015, CCI adopted CenteringPregnancy® as its standard of care. CenteringPregnancy® group care follows the recommended schedule of ten prenatal visits, but each visit is two hours long-giving patients ten times as much time with their provider team. Patients engage in their care by taking their own weight and blood pressure, recording their own health data, and have private time with their provider for belly check. In addition to fun group activities and interactive discussions, women in Centering are introduced to our dental, pediatric, and behavioral health providers. At CCI Health & Wellness Services, patients and staff come together for a healthy and happy pregnancy.

With a goal of $10,000 you will be able to provide complete prenatal care for 1 CenteringPregnancy® cohort - that's 8 uninsured women that will receive comprehensive care because of you! These women will not only receive 12 prenatal visits - but will also receive newborn essentials including diapers, wipes, bottles, books, carriers, and more.
CCI Health & Wellness Services opened its doors in 1969 when a cadre of volunteer health professionals working with the City of Rockville's Roving Youth Leader Program opened a safety-net clinic to provide health care to at-risk youth. Over the past 49 years, CCI has evolved from a volunteer-driven safety net clinic to a vibrant, integrated, multidisciplinary organization focused on improving the overall health and wellness of its community. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, CCI provides primary care, dental care, behavioral health, prenatal care, family planning services, refugee health services, HIV/Infectious disease services, and WIC services to over 62,000 individuals across Montgomery and Prince George's County.
Rosa, a 37 year old mother who was pregnant with twins, and had recently suffered the loss of her father. Already the mother of a 17 year old boy, Rosa came to CCI seeking prenatal care at 22 weeks gestation. Suffering from feelings of anxiety and depression over the unexpected loss of her Father, Rosa soon found comfort and support from the other women in her cohort. During her Centering cohort reunion this past October, Rosa shared that CenteringPregnancy® initiated feelings of excitement about her pregnancy. Rosa celebrated these feelings of joy, and cherished being a part of the Centering cohort - always excited to come in and interact with the other women. She was able to build relationships with peers and staff, all while receiving the care she needed to manage her complex conditions. Rosa delivered healthy twin girls, Keiry and Kiara, at full term this past October.

In the Spring of 2017, Maria, 40 was 10 weeks along when she established prenatal care with CCI Health & Wellness Services. Maria had previously suffered two miscarriages and was anxious about the pregnancy. A few short weeks later, Maria joined a CenteringPregnancy® cohort. At the first session, she brought her parents, who traveled from home in Honduras to be with their daughter during the early stages of her pregnancy. As Maria and the other women engaged in interactive learning, facilitated discussion, and community building, her parents witnessed the benefits of CenteringPregnancy® first hand. During the session, Maria's father expressed to the group how fortunate they were to have CenteringPregnancy®, a place where women can gather together to share their experiences and be there for each other. He was proud of the women for taking this step in their pregnancy. Maria attended all sessions until she was 39 weeks along and had a C-Section. She gave birth to a boy named Joshua who weighed 8 lbs 5 oz.
